About Julie

Julie Groves performs as a soloist, session musician, orchestral musician and as part of the accomplished London Myriad Ensemble who are international competition first prize winners. Her passion for chamber music manifests itself in duos with pianist Yuki Negishi, guitarist Ahmed Dickinson and her flute and guitar duos, the Ashgrove Duo (with Ashley Hards) and Woodlark (with Laura Snowden) alongside her flute and harp duo with Aisling Ennis - Eolande Duo/FLARP!

Venues such as the Purcell Room; St. Martin-in-the-Fields; Blackheath Halls; the Barbican; St James’s, Piccadilly; Wiltons Theatre and Cromer Pier have been hosts to Julie’s performances. She was notably the Great Britain and Ireland Winner of the LIONS International Music Competition, representing the UK in the Europe Finals.

Julie has ongoing creative projects with Between Soundings (flute/poet), composers, actors and dancers in creating new works and experimenting with improvisational material. As both a performer and composer, Julie is developing an array of different ventures that include both her own work her collaboration with other artists.

Julie is Composers Editor for the British Flute Society online and also writes reviews for Flute - the Journal of the BFS. She also coaches chamber music and advanced woodwind across the country and at Benslow Music Trust.

Julie is represented by Sonorist music agency and her diary service is MAS - the Musicians' Answering Service.
